Travel Insurance

Trip Cancellation insurance can cover you for 100% of your prepaid and nonrefundable trip expenses if you need to cancel for a reason covered by your policy. We always recommend that travelers purchase travel insurance.

Travel insurance can be purchased through travel agents, some financial institutions or credit card providers, or an online travel insurance site such as Square Mouth or travelinsureance.com. The US Travel Insusrance Association offers a list of travel insurance providers, as well.

The most common covered reason travelers cancel a trip is an illness, injury, or death. However, we suggest that you consider purchasing  coverage for other events as well – including hurricanes or coastal conditions, transportation problems and weather events – since these events do not change our cancellation policy.

Hurricane Season runs from June 1st to November 30th each year.  Unless there is a mandatory evacuation of the island that affects your reservation dates, a potential storm does not change our cancellation policy. In the event of a covered hurricane or other unforeseen severe weather, some travel insurance provides coverage under the trip cancellation and interruption benefits. Remember to ask agents for a very specific time the coverage will be in effect since it must be purchased before a storm is named.

To check coastal conditions and water quality, you may obtain up to date information from the Sarasota County Government or the state website for Florida Health.

According to SquareMouth (a travel insurance comparison company that helps customers search, compare, and buy travel insurance policies online)…

For some travelers, purchasing travel insurance can be an afterthought. Maybe they put off buying travel insurance until the last minute, or maybe they didn’t realize that most domestic health insurance policies don’t provide international coverage.

Fortunately, travelers can purchase travel insurance as late as the day before their departure date if they want to buy a fully comprehensive travel insurance policy, which includes cancellation coverage for their trip costs. For travel medical insurance policies without Trip Cancellation coverage, travelers may be able to buy a policy after their departure date.

As a small establishment with only 8 accommodations, we remove reservations from our calendar at the time they are booked – often months or even a year in advance.  Shifting your reservation to other dates is not an option for non-refundable stays.

See our Terms & Conditions for more details.  This information is also provided in detail via email when the reservation is requested and again before payment.

You may purchase travel insurance directly from an insurance provider. There are also websites like SquareMouth and travelinsurance.com where you may obtain quotes from numerous insurers. Your credit card may also automatically provide insurance when you use it to book your trip (check the benefits that come with your card).
